I have lost my sunglasses. I’m resigned to it, I’ve turned my apartment upside down and I’m now quite certain they’re gone for good. How many times have I lost my sunglasses? I cannot say. I’d bought these hours before hopping on a plane to my recent vacation and they’re now immortalized in a series of photos, without which, I’d probably never remember them. I’ve lost that many pairs of sunglasses.
These had pink plastic frames and gold-colored metal, and they looked like something out of a Talking Heads video. They were wacky in a retro sort of way and I thought they made me look like I had a working knowledge of David Byrne’s music. Which I don’t, really.
It doesn’t matter now, because my sunglasses are probably under some seat on a subway collecting crud, or covered in the contents of someone’s stomach after a rough night out. Or they’re on the street, where they’ve just been stepped on. Someone may have puked on them there, too. Either way, they’re gone.
